Many of us are familiar with the story of the Israelites leaving Egypt—how God called Moses, the burning bush, the plagues, and finally, the crossing of the Red Sea.
Like the Israelites, some of us have felt oppressed in our own lives. We might find ourselves burdened by certain situations or people who have placed a heavy yoke upon us, making it difficult to break free. Despite trying various methods to try to free ourselves, we still feel shackled and stagnant. Perhaps it’s a job in which you feel like a slave, a situation that has confined you, or some spiritual oppression that seeks to destroy every aspect of your life.
Today, I want to approach this topic from a different angle—God will be speaking directly to some of you as you read this. I would like to share some truths and revelations from this story. You may have cried out for change, done all you could to find freedom, yet nothing seems to improve. Many have engaged in fasting and deliverance efforts, but still, there appears to be no change. I have good news for you this morning.
This is what the Lord is saying to you today: “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.” (Exodus 3:7).
Do you think that the Lord has not been listening to you or that He hasn’t seen all you’ve been going through? Do you feel forgotten and left alone in your misery? He hasn’t forgotten you. He hasn’t only heard your weeping; He has seen the pain in your heart. Listen to what He said: “So I have come down to rescue them from the hands of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land” (verse 8).
Did you catch that? He’s not thinking about coming down; He has come down to rescue you! Am I the only one excited about this verse? As I type this message, I feel like screaming and shouting for joy because the Lord is already here to rescue me. Do you believe that for yourself? He has seen all your troubles, heard all your weeping and prayers—your misery is right there before Him. He knows it all, and He has come to rescue you. If I were you, I would start singing and dancing for joy right now. Hallelujah!
Look to your left and right. Who’s with you right now? I’m not referring to the person sitting beside you; I mean God, and He is right by your side. He has come to save you, to deliver you, and to lead you to the promised land. He has come to set you free from all bondage, oppression, and domination. He is here to grant you victory. The snare has been broken, folks! Come on, rejoice right where you are. The Lord is with you, ready to save you with His victorious hand.
Alright, let’s move forward. When Moses asked God who he should say sent him in verse 13, God replied, “I am who I am.” This declaration, “I AM WHO I AM,” still speaks to you today. It reveals God’s character as a dependable and faithful God who desires complete trust from His people.
You really need to trust God in this situation. Trust Him to save and deliver you. Yes, this battle may have been going on for a long time, and you may have tried everything you can think of, but I assure you—if only you trust and believe in God this time, He is here to set you free.
You may feel trapped, as if you have been going in circles for so long that you’ve forgotten the promises God has made in your life. You’ve learned to endure the suffering and turmoil caused by the wicked one. Your life may even feel like a mess, with little hope of moving forward. You’ve met all the requirements for advancement, yet there has been no promotion in your life. Each time you find the courage to try again, you seem to fail. Does this sound familiar?
I really want you to hear this. I believe God is speaking to some people right now. While I can’t reach you face to face to deliver this message directly, God can. He is revealing some truth to you at this moment, speaking light and freedom into your soul, and guiding you on what to do.
Now, let’s continue. God later said to Moses in verse 19, “But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him.” Can you imagine the situation we are dealing with here? God has come down to save them, yet there is a king who stands tall, believing he has dominion and authority over them. He refuses to let them go.
Do you feel this way? Is there someone acting as a “strongman,” saying you can’t escape this situation, this sickness, or this failure in life? Someone who is determined to keep you from moving forward? They have made it their mission to see that you remain stuck where you are, ready to thwart everything you attempt. Whether the opposition is physical, spiritual, in the form of an illness, or financial struggles, you know it is there. They are resolute in working against you.
But listen: God has said that a mighty hand will compel them. Hallelujah! Are you still with me?
This is what the Lord is saying to you now: “I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with a mighty act of judgment.” (Exodus 6:6)
No matter how powerful your enemies may seem, the Lord is bringing you out of that situation; He is setting you free right now. I encourage you to begin strengthening your faith at this moment. Remember, the Word of God is active and alive (Hebrews 4:12). The same Word He spoke to the Israelites many years ago is being spoken to you today. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. His Word, which performed wonders and set His children free in the past, can do the same for you now. I may not know what you are going through, but I do know that the Lord is speaking to you right now—yes, you.
You need to embrace this message today: understand that the Lord is setting you free. No matter how powerful your enemies may seem, God will bring them down. Whether it’s a boss or colleague who has threatened or belittled you, the one who claimed, “You are going nowhere,” the sickness that has held you captive for so long, or the spiritual bondage that has restrained you, the Lord is freeing you right now. For some of you, this means a brand new job; for others, it’s the promotion you never thought possible. Some will experience restored health, while others will gain freedom from captivity.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:11
Say it now: “Let me go!” Declare it with conviction. Whatever it is that has been holding you back, name it out loud. “Let me go!” Every bondage, every obstruction, every captivity, every failure, every sickness—let me go now in Jesus’ name.
Now, let me draw your attention to something important. I hope you’re still with me! I realize this article is longer than usual, but trust me, it’s worth the read. If you can read stories of 20 to 50 pages in a single day, you can certainly get through this.
Now, back to our topic. Listen to what the Lord says in Exodus 3:21-22: “And I will make the Egyptians favourably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave, you will not go empty-handed. Every woman is to ask her neighbour and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And you will plunder the Egyptians.”
Can you believe it? They are not leaving empty-handed. When I first read this verse, I thought, “If the Lord is saving me, I would just take off and run as fast as I can away from these people.” But the Lord is making them leave with wealth, riches, and plunder from the Egyptians. I hope you are speaking prosperity into your life right now! You are not leaving empty-handed; you are departing with valuables.
The Lord Himself will cause even those who oppose you to favour you and lift you up. In that job, you aren’t just moving on to something better; you are going out as a celebrant, not as a slave. You are leaving with glory, celebration, and joy. If you are facing sickness, you are moving forward with renewed strength. In that bondage, you are taking back everything the enemy has stolen from you. Your valuables are leaving with you—whatever represents gold and silver, as well as clothing.
You will not go out in shame or dishonour. Your children will also leave the land of slavery with you; your sons and daughters will be dressed in glory. For those who are waiting on the Lord for the fruit of the womb, guess what? You are leaving rejoicing because the Lord has blessed your womb. Are you excited about what the Lord is saying to you? Only our Lord can do all these things; only He can give you victory.
Let me highlight something quickly. I noticed something wonderful in these chapters. In Exodus 3:15, God instructed Moses to tell the Israelites that “The Lord” has sent him. As I continued reading the following verses and chapters, I observed that God repeatedly emphasized the name “The Lord” to the Israelites. He mentioned it in verse 15, verse 18, and in many other verses. This repetition made me wonder why God chose to use this particular name so often.
Then, I was led to Exodus 6:2. Please bear with me as we look at these verses together. In Exodus 6:2, God said, “I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name, The Lord, I did not make myself known to them.” In verse 6, He continues, “Therefore say to the Israelites, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians…'”
I took a moment to reflect on something that has been bothering me: Why did God reveal Himself to Abraham as “God Almighty,” while to Moses and the Israelites He was known as “The Lord”? There seems to be an important message in this distinction. Here is what became clear to me.
Pharaoh presented himself as the lord over the Israelites. Although he was the king, his authority was evident in his oppressive claim: “I own you. I am in control; you are my slaves, and you aren’t going anywhere. I have the power to dictate your lives.”
Do you see where I’m going with this? The challenges you’re currently facing may feel like they have placed you under a heavy burden, subjecting you to pain and misery. These circumstances often act as if they are lords over you—sickness can dominate your body, and captivity can control your spirit. The “strongman,” or the one in charge, might seem to have dominion over your life.
Now, listen to what God is saying to you: I AM THE LORD. I am the complete and absolute owner of your life, and I have the final say. I am the authority; not you. Those people belong to me. I am their master, their Lord, their leader, their deliverer, and their God. The Lord is bringing them down from their thrones. He has come to take authority and ownership of your life. You need to say to them now, “Come down and sit in the dust, you virgin daughters of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne.” (Isaiah 47:1)
Begin to walk out in freedom. The Lord has come down to rescue you; He has come to save you and free you from the bondage of darkness. He has come to take you to the promised land, flowing with milk and honey. He has come to take over. Speak out now: “Let Me Go!”
The Lord still has great things to reveal to you, so stay tuned for the next part of this message. Trust me; you don’t want to miss this.
Thank you for reading, and God bless.
