Worrying and sleepless nights do not solve any problems, and fretting and agonizing do not help either. However, trusting in and surrendering everything to the Maker can bring you peace. Sometimes, we worry too much and try to solve all our problems on our own. I remember when I was a teenager listening to a sermon on my lamp—a combination of a cassette player and radio. Suddenly, the lamp dropped on the floor, and the bulb broke. I was terrified because my dad had just bought the lamp, and I knew he would be very angry with me. I cried like a baby and went out to look for a replacement bulb. I wanted to fix it before he came home, so I called one of my friend, and together we searched for a bulb, but unfortunately, we found nothing.

After several hours, I returned home, locked myself in my room, and began to question God. I was just a kid, and I wondered why He allowed my lamp to break, especially since I had been listening to a Christian message. I cried and cried, and then I heard Him say, “Why didn’t you give it to me?” I had been so focused on finding a solution to my lamp problem that I forgot to ask Him to take control. I wanted to fix the problem myself, forgetting that He is capable of doing all things.

So, I asked Him to forgive me and to take control of the situation. When my dad came home, I confessed that I had accidentally broken the lamp. To my surprise, he simply told me not to worry about it; there was no scolding, no punishment, nothing. You know how we teenagers can be scared of getting in trouble, especially girls.

That day, I learned that no matter how small, trivial, or big a problem may seem, God is able to solve them. All I need to do is surrender to His grace and mercy. Why not do that today? Give Him all your thoughts, challenges, and worries—the late-night anxieties, the house bills, the job stresses, the exam pressures—because He can handle it all.
