You Are Called for More: A Message to Women of Purpose

Today, I want to share a profound message with you—a message about purpose, identity, and divine calling. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the story of Esther, a woman of strength and destiny.

In Esther 2:9, we are introduced to a young woman who found favor in the sight of Hegai, the king’s eunuch. Despite her background as an orphan raised by her uncle Mordecai, Esther was chosen and shown kindness. She was taken into the palace and given special treatment. From the outside, it seemed as though all her prayers had been answered—she had been lifted from obscurity and placed in a position of honor.

Sometimes, like Esther, we find ourselves in moments of breakthrough—landing a dream job, getting married, having children—and we think, “This is it. I’ve arrived.” But purpose goes deeper.

In Esther 2:17, the Bible says the king was so pleased with Esther that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. Again, it might have seemed like the climax of her journey. But God had more in store.

A few chapters later, a threat arose. Haman, a powerful official, plotted to destroy the Jews. In Esther 4:13, Mordecai sent her a challenging message:
“Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape.”

He reminded her: you were not called just to be a pretty face. You were not placed in the palace merely to enjoy the wealth and luxury. You were chosen for something greater—a divine assignment.

Many times, we think our blessings are the destination, but they are often just the platform. Esther’s position gave her the influence to make a difference. In Esther 8:8, the king told her:
“Write another decree in the king’s name on behalf of the Jews as seems best to you, and seal it with the king’s signet ring.”

Esther wasn’t just a queen—she was a nation-saver. She was empowered to influence law and policy. She stepped beyond her comfort zone to fulfill her calling. God used her beauty and position, yes—but even more, He used her courage, obedience, and faith.

You are called for more.
As a woman, a mother, a leader—your role is more than your titles. Motherhood is a gift and a ministry. Marriage is a blessing, but your identity is deeper. God has positioned you for purpose. You are called to decree, to declare, to speak life—into your children, your family, your community, your nation.

Let’s look at a few other women of purpose in Scripture:

  • The Shunammite Woman (2 Kings 4): When her son died, she didn’t accept defeat. She rose up, sought the prophet, and refused to let go until her son was restored. She was a woman of faith and determination.
  • Rahab: Despite her past, she chose faith. She protected the Israelite spies and secured salvation for her family. Your past does not disqualify you from your future.
  • Deborah: A prophetess and judge, she rose in the midst of powerful men. She led with wisdom and fulfilled her calling without fear.
  • Bathsheba (1 Kings 1): When Adonijah tried to steal the throne, she saw the danger and acted decisively to protect Solomon. She was insightful and bold, reminding the king of his promises.

Are you watching over your children? Are you standing in the gap for your family? Are you using your influence for God’s purpose?

Three Prayer Points for Women of Purpose:

  1. Pray for Light and Clarity
Like Esther, pray that God opens your eyes to see beyond the surface.
“Lord, give me light. Help me understand the times and seasons. Show me what you’re saying to me in this moment. I want to walk in your divine direction.”
  2. Pray for Purpose
“Lord, I am a woman of purpose. I am created in Christ Jesus for great and mighty things. Give me clarity to understand my purpose. Fill me with wisdom and insight.”
  3. Pray for Wisdom and Good Judgment
Proverbs 4 reminds us to cling to wisdom—it will protect and guide us.
“Lord, give me wisdom. Help me develop good judgment. May I wear wisdom like a crown. Position me to hear from You clearly.”

Finally, let’s hold onto Daniel 2:20–23:
“He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him.”

May God give you wisdom and power. You are called for more. Walk boldly in your purpose.

God bless you.
