Prayer and Reflection on the Favor of God: Lessons from Queen Esther
In Esther 2:9, the Bible says:
“She pleased him and won his favor. Immediately he provided her with beauty treatments and special food.”
Later, in Esther 2:15b, we read:
“And Esther won the favor of everyone who saw her.”
Finally, Esther 2:17 reveals:
“Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins.”
These three verses highlight three distinct levels of favor that Esther experienced:
- Favor before Hegai, the king’s eunuch who oversaw the women.
- Favor before all who saw her—a general grace that made her stand out to everyone.
- Favor before the king, who crowned her queen in place of Vashti.
This is a divine pattern of increasing favor—from individuals, to groups, to royalty. And now, I invite you to align yourself and your family with this grace through prayer:
Prayer Point 1: The Grace of Favor
Lord Jesus, I align myself and my household with the grace that Esther experienced. Let divine favor rest upon us—individual favor, public favor, royal favor. I declare that when people see me, hear my name, or come into contact with me, favor will arise.
Let teachers favor my children.
Let examiners favor me.
Let employers and managers favor me.
Let economic systems, industries, structures, and governments favor me.
Let nations favor me, in the name of Jesus.
Esther didn’t need to explain where she came from; her background didn’t limit her. Favor spoke for her. Favor set her apart. Favor made her stand out. I declare:
Lord, favor me.
Let people favor me.
Let systems favor me.
Let your favor work in my life, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Point 2: Favor that Leads to Greatness
In Esther 2:17b, the Bible says: “He set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.”
Father, I ask that your favor will result in greatness in my life. Let it place a crown of promotion, visibility, and advancement upon me. As you favored Esther and changed her destiny, let your favor bring lasting outcomes in my life.
Let favor crown me with greatness.
Let favor lift me.
Let favor establish me—in Jesus’ name.
Luke 2:52 says:
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
I declare: Favor will follow me.
Men will favor me.
God will favor me.
In Jesus’ name.
Prayer Point 3: Favor That Grants Requests
Nehemiah 2:8b says:
“Because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests.”
Nehemiah, a cupbearer, had a bold vision to rebuild Jerusalem. He asked for safe passage, building materials, letters of endorsement—and the king granted it all.
Lord, let your gracious hand be upon me. Let kings, systems, institutions, and governments grant my requests. Let contracts, proposals, and petitions be approved because of your favor.
I declare: My requests will be granted.
By your favor, doors will open for me—in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Point 4: Favor Despite Limitations
Exodus 12:36 says:
“The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for.”
Even as foreigners and slaves, the Israelites were favored. Their circumstances did not hinder God’s grace.
Lord, favor me wherever I am placed. Regardless of my status, background, or qualifications—let your favor speak for me. They don’t have to like me, but if you favor me, I will be lifted.
Let your favor locate me.
Let your favor bring visibility.
Let your favor elevate me to the forefront of my field, my calling, and my destiny—in Jesus’ name.
Father, I am grateful. Thank you for your favor that sets apart, promotes, and brings divine outcomes. I walk in this favor by faith, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
