One of the most significant things that stood out for me in the year 2024 is the grace and mercy of God. Being well in body, mind, and soul has been solely due to God’s grace. I do not take His grace for granted, nor do I take for granted the privilege of my daily breath or that of my loved ones. I’m sure many of us feel the same way. It was a year where I experienced healing, favour and pure mercy.
A few days ago, I was reflecting on the upcoming year, and the expectations I should have. One word that stood out to me was “Word.” This led me to think about how words must be spoken in order to take effect. Words are so important that even those who cannot speak find other ways to communicate, whether through writing or other means.
The dictionary defines a word as a single distinct meaningful element of speech or writing; it can also mean a command, password, or signal.Words hold immense power; they bring about confirmation of what is said. The Bible states, “He sent forth His words, and it healed them and delivered them from their destruction.”
When I explored the Scriptures, I noticed that the phrase “according to the word of God” appears many times, indicating that when the Lord speaks, it is meant to come to pass.Consider the following verses:-
Psalm 33:6: “By the word of the Lord, the heavens were made.”
Psalm 119:50: “For Your word has given me life.”
Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Jeremiah 1:12: “For I am ready to perform My word.”
Jeremiah 23:20: “Is not My word like fire?” says the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks the rock into pieces?”-
Ezekiel 37:4: “O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.”
Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is living (active) and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”
Can you see where I’m going? The Word of God is powerful and alive, and in the coming year, 2025, His Word will be my mantle.
Psalm 18:30 says, “The word of God is proven.”Folks, let the Word of God be your anchor in the year ahead.Everything you need and could ever need is found in the Word.
Psalm 119:89 says, “Your word is settled in heaven.” This means that everything you could ever need in life is already settled. The Word of God will bring it into manifestation. In the next few hours, many churches will announce their watchword for the New Year; while there is nothing wrong with this, a watchword without manifestation is meaningless. It’s not enough to have a word sticker around your house or even on your forehead; if you lack understanding of the word, it will do you no good.
You must engage with the WORD this year. Dive into the Bible, search for the promises He has spoken over you, and begin to decree and declare them over your life. The Lord desires for you to be great and well. What has He said concerning you? What are His promises for your life?
This year, I will speak life. I will speak fruitfulness. I will speak power. I will speak favor. I will speak blessings, promotion, wealth, and inspiration. I will speak wisdom and an excellent spirit. I will proclaim the Word of God in my life. Folks, don’t just sit back and let life happen to you; declare what you want and what you don’t want.
Remember the story of Esther, where Haman wrote a decree for the Jews to be killed on a certain day, using the king’s signet ring to seal it. Esther cried out to the king to change this decree, but the king told her something profound in Esther 8:8: “You write a decree concerning the Jews as you please in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s signet ring; for whatever is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring, no one can revoke.”This illustrates the power of words. Esther was given the authority to revoke Haman’s decree. She was told to write as it pleased her.
My question for you is, what pleases you? What do you want to happen in your life in this New Year? Write these down and make those proclamations. Make this declaration: You also have the King’s signet ring, which is the name of Jesus. We have been given a name that is above every other name. We have the power to make declarations. We can open doors that have been shut with that name and close doors we don’t want to remain open. You can command the dry bones to come back to life, and you can speak life into dead situations.
This is your time, Folks. This year is your year for God’s Word. Use it, proclaim it, and believe in it. His Word is proven.
Happy New Year, Folks!
