His heart was troubled. After tossing in bed several times, he decided to get up and ask for the book of remembrance to be brought to him. In the book, he realized he was still holding out hope for someone. Perhaps he had forgotten to repay their kindness or simply didn’t care enough to do so. He had no idea, but he knew he had to take action. He could not wait any longer or delay by calling a council of elders; he needed to act immediately.
That night, the king could not sleep. When he requested the chronicles to read, he discovered Mordecai’s revelation about the assassination attempt and realized that Mordecai had never been honored for his bravery. The next morning, the king asked Haman, “What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?” Thinking the king was referring to him, Haman arrogantly suggested that such a man should be given a royal robe, have a crest placed on his head, and be paraded through the city on one of the king’s horses, escorted by one of the king’s top officials, proclaiming, “Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!” To Haman’s shock and embarrassment, the king commanded him to carry out all of his suggestions for Mordecai.
Does this sound familiar? Do you feel forgotten, neglected, or even forsaken? God will fight on your behalf; He will put your enemies to shame. Just like in the book of Psalms, where David says, “The Lord prepares a table for me in the presence of my enemies.” Notice that the enemies can see the power and blessings of God in his life, but they cannot partake in it. The Lord will shame your enemies and prepare a table for you even in their presence. Those who thought you cannot amount to anything—who have spoken against you, insulted you, and scorned you—will witness the manifestation of God’s blessings in your life. They will see you excel and be promoted beyond their wildest imaginations. Oh my! What God has planned for you, the enemy cannot stop. He cannot stand it, and there is nothing he can do about it. God will bring it to fruition.
At the appointed time, when God needed his heart to be troubled and when it was right for his enemy to be put to shame and disgraced, He made it happen. His enemy thought he had won the battle over his heart and believed he had the absolute power to destroy his life. But our God was in control; He was working for His own. Remember, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. There is no enchantment against you and no divination; surely they will gather, but because their gathering is not of the Lord, they will stumble for your sake—YOUR sake! The Spirit of the Lord will raise a standard against them.
If a mere man can remember such deeds, how much more will God, who is greater than the greatest and the All-Knowing One who sees all things? God can see everything you are going through; He knows your pain, hears your prayers, and will not put you to shame. God will remember you.
Today, I decree that the long-awaited favor will come to pass. The promotion you have been waiting for and the testimony that is long overdue will begin to manifest. God will remember you; He will not put you to shame. He will lift your head high beyond your own imagination. You have waited this long, and He will bless you double. Rejoice and be glad!
