God is Self Sufficient

Today, I want to share something deeply important with you. When we say we know God, it’s not just a casual statement—it means we understand His nature and His character. Just like you can’t claim to truly know someone without understanding who they are, what they value, and how they behave, the same is true with God. If we’re going to have a lasting relationship with Him, we must understand who He is at His core.

So today, I’d like to talk about some of the attributes of God. Why? Because knowing His attributes helps us build a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him. It brings us into a dimension of faith and trust that transforms how we live.

Let’s start by understanding what an attribute is. According to the dictionary, it’s “a quality or feature regarded as a characteristic or an inherent part of someone or something.” In the context of God, His attributes reveal His divine essence and how He relates to us and the world. So let’s begin:

1. God is Infinite

God is limitless and self-existent. He was created by nothing and has always existed. Colossians 1:17 tells us, “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Psalm 147:5 says, “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.”This means God knows everything—past, present, and future. His understanding is beyond human comprehension. Where we see only left or right, yes or no, God sees endless possibilities. So no matter what you’re facing right now, remember: God is infinite. His wisdom is unsearchable, and His solutions are far beyond what we can imagine.I was recently reminded of this when I discovered a parallel reading feature on the Bible app. It had always been there—I just hadn’t seen it. That taught me something powerful: just because I didn’t know something existed didn’t mean it wasn’t real. Similarly, just because you don’t see a solution doesn’t mean God doesn’t have one. He is infinite.

2. God is Immutable

This means God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Because He doesn’t change, He is perfect in every way. Malachi 3:6 says, “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.”God doesn’t need experience to make decisions. He isn’t swayed by emotions. His plans are not based on shifting moods or trends. Romans 11:29 reminds us, “God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.”So if God gave you a promise, He hasn’t forgotten it. Maybe you’ve strayed or doubted, but He remains faithful. He is a God of mercy, and what He has spoken, He will bring to pass.

3. God is Self-Sufficient

God lacks nothing. He doesn’t need anything to sustain Himself—He is complete within Himself. And because of that, we can go to Him to meet all our needs without fear that He’ll run out.Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” God will never run dry. He is our source, our provider, our everything.

4. God is Omnipotent

He is all-powerful. Psalm 24:8 describes Him as “the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.” Genesis 18:14 asks, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” The answer is no.Jeremiah 32:17 declares, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You.” Whatever you are going through today, God has the power to handle it.

5. God is Omniscient

This means God knows everything. You may not understand your current situation, but God does. He sees the full picture, and He knows what’s best. You can trust Him to guide you, direct you, and reveal what you need to know in His perfect timing.

6. God is Omnipresent

God is everywhere. He is with you right now, and He’s also with your loved ones, your children, your situation—wherever your heart is, God is already there. You are never alone. You carry His presence with you wherever you go.

7. God is Wise

Romans 11:33 says, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out!” No one can fully comprehend the wisdom of God. He sees what we can’t, knows what we don’t, and always acts in perfect wisdom.

Knowing these attributes of God isn’t just about head knowledge. It’s meant to lead you into a deeper experience—a revelation that changes how you live, how you pray, and how you trust. Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to reveal more of God’s nature to you, so that you can truly experience who He is.May this understanding guide you into a closer walk with God. Be blessed today, and never forget: the God you serve is infinite, immutable, self-sufficient, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and wise.

God bless you.
